Dear Guys In Our Lives,
Thank you for hovering as we open our Christmas gifts to catch any shred of tissue paper before it hits the floor. Sorry that the children wanted to buy you matching pajamas. Also sorry that I posted the resulting picture on Instagram. Sorry that you've been surviving off of leftover soup and cookies for four days. I have some good news though. SAVINGS. No, no, we aren't getting rid of the kids (although let's be honest, at least #3 is definitely not going to be accepted by any colleges). The Nordstrom half-yearly sale is happening. And I've picked out some stylish pieces to head into 2020 since you only got socks and underwear for Christmas. Now please throw away that flannel with the holes in it.
Let's get geeky with sweater fabric facts. Wool comes from sheep, merino wool comes from a specific species called Merino sheep that originated from Spain, and alpaca is harvested from... you guessed it, alpacas. There is no animal cruelty associated with modern shearing of these animals. Wool is carefully shorn from live sheep by sheep shearers, who cut the wool off using electric clippers. The wool is scoured, and lanolin, the natural oils that sheep secrete, which act as a waterproof raincoat for the sheep, is extracted from the wool and used for other purposes.
Traditional wool has thick, coarse fibers and is not intended to be worn directly on the skin as these rough fibers can cause itching. However, merino wool is known for its thinner, finer fibers and is meant to be worn next to the skin. These soft, non-itchy fibers help your skin breathe while still insulating your body. Lightweight merino is perfect for a broad range of temperatures and climates. Alpaca is a durable, luxurious fiber that is softer and silkier than wool. Unlike wool fibers, alpaca fibers do not contain lanolin, which makes these fibers hypoallergenic. I've included my stylist picks for merino wool and alpaca sweaters below - all on sale!
Denim fun fact: Paige Adams-Geller was the first female founder in the premium denim industry. She got her start as one of the top fit models in the industry, then launched PAIGE in 2004. PAIGE denim is designed with a special fabric known as "Transcend," which uses fiber technology to create a 4-way stretch and luxuriously soft feel. The company partners with the best wash-houses in the country, in Los Angeles. Every style created is wear-tested. I've included a few pairs on sale below.
