Dear Guys In Our Lives,
Thank you for hovering as we open our Christmas gifts to catch any shred of tissue paper before it hits the floor. Sorry that the children wanted to buy you matching pajamas. Also sorry that I posted the resulting picture on Instagram. Sorry that you've been surviving off of leftover soup and cookies for four days. I have some good news though. SAVINGS. No, no, we aren't getting rid of the kids (although let's be honest, at least #3 is definitely not going to be accepted by any colleges). The Nordstrom half-yearly sale is happening. And I've picked out some stylish pieces to head into 2020 since you only got socks and underwear for Christmas. Now please throw away that flannel with the holes in it.
Let's get geeky with sweater fabric facts. Wool comes from sheep, merino wool comes from a specific species called Merino sheep that originated from Spain, and alpaca is harvested from... you guessed it, alpacas. There is no animal cruelty associated with modern shearing of these animals. Wool is carefully shorn from live sheep by sheep shearers, who cut the wool off using electric clippers. The wool is scoured, and lanolin, the natural oils that sheep secrete, which act as a waterproof raincoat for the sheep, is extracted from the wool and used for other purposes.
Traditional wool has thick, coarse fibers and is not intended to be worn directly on the skin as these rough fibers can cause itching. However, merino wool is known for its thinner, finer fibers and is meant to be worn next to the skin. These soft, non-itchy fibers help your skin breathe while still insulating your body. Lightweight merino is perfect for a broad range of temperatures and climates. Alpaca is a durable, luxurious fiber that is softer and silkier than wool. Unlike wool fibers, alpaca fibers do not contain lanolin, which makes these fibers hypoallergenic. I've included my stylist picks for merino wool and alpaca sweaters below - all on sale!
Denim fun fact: Paige Adams-Geller was the first female founder in the premium denim industry. She got her start as one of the top fit models in the industry, then launched PAIGE in 2004. PAIGE denim is designed with a special fabric known as "Transcend," which uses fiber technology to create a 4-way stretch and luxuriously soft feel. The company partners with the best wash-houses in the country, in Los Angeles. Every style created is wear-tested. I've included a few pairs on sale below.

We've entered that period between Christmas and New Year's. It's like middle aged cleavage. When we lie down, there seems to be an expansive gap that's good for nothing, but we don't really feel like putting on a bra. Time may not really exist. We can't remember if we've been wearing this sweatshirt for two days or three. Can we skip going to the grocery store since we have cookies to last for at least eight meals? Should we watch 180 more YouTube videos? I've got four words for you. NORDSTROM. HALF. YEARLY. SALE. Or is it three words? Is there a hyphen in there? Who cares? You have five days left to get the best deals of the year literally without leaving your bed. Start here with my stylist picks...
Target has come out with some trendy apparel brands in the last couple years that I'm absolutely loving. I'm also thrilled to see that they've gone not only inclusive with their sizing but with their marketing too. Sizes for every body!
Who What Wear is my go-to for statement pieces; if you're between sizes and not overly blessed in the boobular region, I'd recommend going with your smaller size. Wild Fable is my favorite brand for my teenage daughter (AKA my favorite brand to steal from my daughter's closet). The pieces that fit oversized are intended to so I'd say this brand runs true to size. Except for the mom jeans; size down! My checking account is pretty thrilled that' I've been shopping these brands. On top of the already low prices, Target is currently having a 30% off select dresses sale. It's only through Wednesday, November 6, so whip out your Red Card (to save another 5%!) and get yourself a new dress for Thanksgiving.
DSW is offering 25% off booties through October 20. Find the latest trends from combat boots to leopard and snakeskin booties! Coupon code is COOLBOOTS
